At 6 p.m. every day, members of Environment Club under Can Tho University Students Association routinely participate in environment cleaning activities around the school’s Youth Union Office and Building C1. Students are divided into groups, cutting grass, watering herbs, cleaning and gathering garbage, collecting recycled materials... “Every afternoon, I spend one hour  taking part in environment cleaning activities organized by the club. I want to contribute my small effort to keep the campus clean,” said Quach Kim Ngan, a student of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. According to Ngan, doing public service will help propagandize, raise the awareness of environmental protection among students.

Nguyen Tan Phu, head of the club, a student of Electronics and Communications Engineering, said that besides volunteering activities inside the campus, whenever Can Tho City had important events or festivals, the club organized activities to clean the environment, to propagandize, and to remind people to put garbage in the right place, creating a beautiful impression on visitors to the city.

In spite of studying or working in different fields, many young people with passion, enthusiasm in volunteering activities have gathered into groups to help miserable ones in the society. Pham Minh Nguyen, a student of Construction Engineering (Can Tho College), member of Can Tho City’s Community Skills Club, has actively participated in volunteering activities such as visiting and giving gifts to disadvantaged children, guiding young people to dance, training collective skills, and organizing community activities.

Loving volunteering activities from student time, Tran Vinh Xuyen, an officer of the Medicine and Pharmacy Faculty of Dai Viet Intermediate School, now still does social works. In May, Xuyen volunteered to repair houses of poor people in Thanh My Commune (Vinh Thanh District, Can Tho City). Previously, he had helped deliver free drugs to poor patients, clean bushes and the environment. Especially, Xuyen has so far donated blood for 10 times.
